Audition forms in word and pdf

Audition Requirements

Dance - Unless you only want to be considered for a non-singing/non-dancing part....we will ask you all to learn the dance audition.  Not all parts will need to exhibit great dancing skills, but we'd like to see if you can move - and how you can sell it, even if you don't do the steps correctly!!

The auditions will begin at 7:00 both nights, but the dance routine will be taught both nights, starting at 6:00PM.  You will be taught by dance captains.

Singing - Unless you only want to be considered for a non-singing/non-dancing part....we will ask you to sing.  Please sing about 16 bars (no longer than a minute) of a song that shows your ability/range - please bring sheet music.

Acting -  As there are so many bit character parts to be cast, we will ask all of you to do a short reading.  There will be parts for you to review prior to your audition.  For ensemble, there will be a few paragraphs for you to read, just so we can hear you talk.

Please print off the audition form prior to coming and attach a resume if you have one.  You will all have a headshot taken (only for the use of the auditioning board) so don't worry about supplying a photo.    Auditions will be closed - which means that you and 4 other folks will come up in a group.  You will sing and read alone - but then dance as a group.

You will be taken up in order of arrival.  Once you arrive, turn your application/resume over to the audition crew - they will assign you a number, and you will be called up in numerical order.

There are a few parts in the show that can be added to the ensemble:  The two vocal instructors and the 'BEAUTIFUL GIRL tenor - but they don't have to be.  If you can't commit to many rehearsals but would like to be considered for these parts only - just let us know..

The most important note:  PLEASE have fun!!  Take a deep breath, smile and give it your best shot.

Lonny Barnett - In The Spotlight

Rock Of Ages
If the seedy Sunset Strip were to ever name names of its chief perpetrators and instigators, rising to the top of the list would be Alonzo "Lonny" Barnett.
Barnett is Manager, Promotions Director, head cook, and bottle-washer at L.A.'s infamous Bourbon Room. As right-hand man of music industry vet and proprietor Dennis Dupree, the two share a steaming passion for rock, booze, and raucous nightlife.
Helping drive his success at helming The Bourbon, Barnett is no stranger to L.A.'s music scene. Formerly a drummer for local dub-ska metal group Mutha' Funkers, Barnett now works with Dupree to use the Bourbon stage to help the rising stars of L.A.'s underground music scene rise to international fame. He is also the creative genius behind some of The Bourbon Room's most outrageous promotional parties, including "Naked Jello Wrestling Thursdays", Strip Cribbage, and "Teabag Tuesdays."
Despite the hectic schedule of managing one of L.A. busiest nightclubs, Barnett keeps one eye on future opportunities. He is currently studying at ITT Technical Institute to become a Certified Audio Engineer, and aspires to be a Foley Editor in the Adult Film Industry.
Come join Lonny is his final performance of Rock of Ages Sunday Oct 30 at 2 PM!
Tickets at Actorsingers.org or at the door of Keefe Center for the Arts!
Playing the part of Lonny Barnett is James Middleton, who lives in Londonderry with his family, when not rocking out he is a Quality Engineer with an addiction to game shows and bar trivia

Joey Primo - In The Spotlight

Rock Of Ages
Joey Primo, born Joseph Howard Rubenstein, has devoted his life to his first true passion – hunting. On his 10th birthday, his father drove him through the remote woods of Oregon, handed him a Winchester Model 94, and showed him how to track birch stumps and twig trails to communal nesting grounds.

For the rest of his childhood, Joey and his father, Richard Rubenstein, would travel around the Northwest discovering new breeding sites and landing 55-pounders to stuff and mount in their Lane County summer cabin. “It’s always been about the search,” said Joey in an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, “the way their tails echo through the pines when they slap the water, or the sight of a set of tracks as it disappears off the riverbed.”

At age 23, Joey moved to Los Angeles to sell his award-winning, diving-action 68-pounder at Zak’s Famous 24-hour Pawn Shop on Santa Monica Boulevard just off of 101. He hoped to attract A-list collectors to his father’s burgeoning taxidermy practice. To support his efforts, he picked up a bartending position at the legendary Dupree’s Bourbon Room, where he discovered his second true passion – rock and roll.

Music became a way for Joey to express his nostalgia for summers in the brush with his late father, who drowned tragically when a flash flood swept him into a 7-foot quaking aspen dam just months after Joey left for California. After the famous struggle at the Bourbon Room during Arsenal’s farewell show, Joey negotiated with Arsenal’s manager, a notorious taxidermy hobbyist, to replace Stacee Jaxx as lead singer.

His moving tribute to his father, Beaver Hunt, topped the BillBoard Hot 100 chart for eight weeks.

Come join Joey rock it in Rock of Ages Oct 28 - 30 ! Tickets available here !

Playing the part of Primo is Matt Kaiser who, when not on the stage can be found doing graphic design in Somerville and watching cartoons with his wife.

Stacee Jaxx - In The Spotlight

Rock of Ages
Bad boy rocker Stacee Jaxx, lead singer and front man for the multi platinum power rock juggernaut Arsenal, exploded on to the rock scene in 1984. With Arsenal's hard driving rhythms combined with Stacee's on stage sensuality and off stage exploits they quickly became rock fan favorites and tabloid regulars. Rumor has it that Stacee's demand for musical perfection while recording their third and latest album "I Want Your Cans" ruffled more than a few feathers among his band mates and nearly caused a split. It is said that Stacee went so far as to set a recently recorded guitar track on fire right in front of the guitarist because he "couldn't feel it in his crotch".
Little to nothing is known about Stacee's history prior to the band's breakout in 1984. Some claim he studied classical music at Berkley, some say he is in the witness protection program, others say he is a former field agent for the CIA. All inquiries into his past have proven completely fruitless. Perhaps we will never know the real history of this mysterious man of music.
Come join Stacee and his Rock Band  in Rock of Ages Oct 28 - 30 ! Tickets available here !

Justice Charlier- In The Spotlight

Rock of Ages

Justice Charlier grew up in a sleepy town in upstate New York with her parents and two brothers. A stellar student in high school, she was set to become an accounting major at SUNY Albany when the call of the West Coast became too overwhelming for her and she tossed it all in to follow her real passion: rock music. Much to her parents' dismay, she left home and never looked back.

Upon arriving in L.A., Justice found nearly immediate success as a backup singer. Using the stage name Maxine Diamond, she sang vocals on the Donna Summer hit album "Bad Girls", as well as The Alan Parsons Project's "The Turn of a Friendly Card". (Incidentally, this is where she first encountered Dennis Dupree...but what happens at TAPP stays at TAPP.) On the brink of fame and fortune, Justice's world seemingly came crashing down when the Sleazy Producer screwed her over for the starring role in "Xanadu", casting Olivia Newton John instead. She has since thanked him many times over by providing drinks on the house for life at the Venus.

Penniless, Justice tapped into her childhood interpretive dance training and turned to employment of the evening. She began a long tenure at Sheldon's Shangri-La on Sunset, where she used both her dancing and her financial acumen to mentor the other girls and help Sheldon get out of the red. Once he split the scene, she took over the establishment and changed the name in favor of her favorite Roman goddess - and the Venus Gentlemen's Club was born. She'd like her parents to know she made it in business after all!

Playing the part of Justice is Melissa Runde, who lives in Windham with her husband and three children and is a monthly columnist for the Nashua Telegraph.

Come join Justice at The Venus Club in Rock of Ages Oct 28 - 30 ! Tickets available here !

Dennis Dupree - In the Spotlight

Rock of Ages

Serving Up Dreams, on the Rocks

(Reprinted with permission courtesy of Rolling Stoned magazine)

Lying in the dark shadows of West Hollywood’s seedy Sunset Strip lies an unassuming club where stars are born, and dreams go to die. In its long history, The Bourbon Room has hosted an impressive roster of legendary musicians. Janis Joplin, The Doors, Cream, Velvet Underground, and Cream, among countless others have all rocked The Bourbon during their struggling formative years. Making it at The Bourbon meant critical exposure to A&R men from Capitol and Arista Records, whose after-hours booze and drug binges at The Bourbon are the stuff of legend.

Falling on hard times, The Bourbon was shuttered for many years before being purchased and reopened by music almost-was Dennis Dupree. Dupree, 47, is a long time vet of the L.A. music scene, with the battle scars to prove it. Despite a seemingly gifted talent for songwriting and storytelling, Dennis’ own music dreams fell far short. He and his band-mates, Dennis and The Penetrators, although proven to crank out insightful lyrics and soulful licks, only managed to reach #157 on the punk klezmer charts. A revolving door of drummers, perpetually overdosing bassist Mikki Quatro, and continual trips in and out of jail and rehab kept the talented group battling constant setbacks.

Dupree has since channeled his keen insights on reinventing The Bourbon, now a hotbed for L.A.’s burgeoning metal scene. Groups such as The Ramones, Van Halen, The Dead Kennedys, and all-girl rockers The Cunning Runts have all gotten a huge career boost from Dupree’s sage advice, exposure to industry giants, and the support of throngs of Bourbon regulars, themselves the seeming dregs of humanity.

In quiet moments of confidence, it becomes apparent that Dupree may be most proud of his influence and guidance on current supergroup Arsenal. Its wailing heartthrob lead singer Stacee Jaxx first entered The Bourbon in the late 70s. A down-on-his-luck kid on the streets, Dupree took him in as a barback, recognized the abundant unpolished talent in Jaxx, and mentored him to super-stardom. Despite Dupree’s invisible hand in their early song-writing, the whirlwind success of Arsenal and its seemingly endless road tour have put a distance between the relationship.

Dupree quietly rocks on, serving up hard liquor and hard rock nightly at The Bourbon, helping launch dreams into the heavens, and drowning sorrows in a smoky highball glass, while keeping his keen eye trained for the next big thing.

(Dennis Dupree will be brought to life in Nashua by Mike Colena on October 28th-30th, when ActorSingers presents Rock of Ages at Keefe Auditorium)

Come join Dennis at The Bourbon in Rock of Ages Oct 28 - 30 ! Tickets available here !
