Regina Koontz - In The Spotlight

Rock of Ages!

Regina has fought for many causes. Everything from the Farm Crisis in Iowa to trying to legalize pot right in her home state of California. Regina gives credit for her drive and determination to her parents, they were the first to encourage her love of music as well as her love of social change.

Her favorite protest songs as a kid were: ‘For What It’s Worth’ (Buffalo Springfield) Paint It Black (The Rolling Stones, and Morning Dew (The Grateful Dead). Though since she went to college as she is a recent graduate from Berkley, her taste in music has shifted to such bands including Twisted Sister, Europe and Pat Benatar.

Regina is incredibly excited to start her new job as city planner in the great state she grew up in. She plans to use all the knowledge she has gained to make change within the system. Fight the man from the inside. She can often be heard telling friends “Power to the Proletariat” Which are words Regina likes to live by. She insists it’s a phrase everyone should live by and loves to explain that the working middle class is who needs to speak out and let their voices be heard.

Regina reminds us that the fight is never over, though she does not tell us exactly what fight she is referring to. She just insists that everyone must fight for the cause they believe in! Power to the Proletariat!

Her latest protest can be seen on the stage in Nashua, New Hampshire courtesy of Actorsingers. She will be fighting for her cause October 28th, 29th, and 30th.

Playing the part of Regina is Angèlica Forcier Rosenthal who, when not on the stage can be found teaching Music and Theatre.

Help Regina and her cause at Rock of Ages Oct 28 - 30 ! Tickets available here !

In The Spotlight - Becca Urban (2015)

Costuming Assistant Into The Woods

Using theater as a loose term, Becca was what she called a “Disney” kid since childhood. Growing up on Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and all the rest.  She even went as Snow White for Halloween in a costume her mom had made for her. Becca got into doing improv around age 11, where she was a yogurt in a grocery store play, and then did true theater in high school.  Becca credits her friends as her inspiration for her getting into theater.  To her, they were shining stars on the stage, and not so shining backstage, so she signed up to support them, seeing all of the shows for free.  She says it just so happens that she became very good at “herding cats”.

Currently Actorsingers is the only theater group that Becca is involved with, but she also does Cosplay, Steampunk and roleplay as a hobby with friends on the weekends.  She is very excited to be a part of “Into the Woods| but her other two favorite shows are Almost Maine and a student written play from her high school of one act plays. What Becca enjoys most about being involved I community theater is that no one takes it too seriously.  Everyone is in it to have fun, put on a great production, and takes great pride in their work.

When not doing costumes for “Into the Woods” Becca has an automotive back ground with engineering thrown in, but learned to love sewing about four years ago. She says that with lots of practice, she has honed her sewing skills and love to learn new things all of the time, usually out of necessity.  Becca’s dream is to be a lead costumer in a show that has many challenges.

In The Spotlight - Mia Berardi (2015)

Cinderella in Into The Woods

Mia’s very first memory about musical theatre was being cast in “Gypsy”, her first musical show, in Keene, NH. She remembers opening night being super exciting. Seeing all of the grown up ladies putting their makeup on and doing their hair Mia her first rush of adrenaline and excitement. It was a magical moment, and one that she still feels every opening night of each show she is in.

Mia first performed in her first play in second grade. Her parents said was the only one who knew every single one of her lines, and the lines of her castmates!  She would even whisper the lines that were forgotten into the ears of the other characters onstage, to keep the show going. Her character in that show just happened to be a princess!

Mia credits her dad as her inspiration for getting into theater, as she says he was the theatre nerd in the family so he was the one that inspired to pursue it all. Her dad always made the most out of the parts he was given and Mia strives to do the same with every role she plays. Most of her shows have been with Actorsingers, but one of her most favorite shows ever was with Stagecoach Productions.

Her top three show are: “Legally Blonde”, “All Shook Up”, and “The Crucible”.

What Mia loves the most about being in Community Theater, are the people you meet. She says that she has met many amazing people that she happily calls friends. Mia has a B.A. of Fine Arts in Theater Performance, which is exactly what she loves to do. Any aspect of the theatre is what her heart and soul love. When not pursuing her passion, Mia loves to bake and make ring-bearer pillows. That may be super random, she says, but it is a lot of fun. Her dream roles are to play Millie, in “Thoroughly Modern Millie”, and to perform in “Jekyll and Hyde” as Lucy Harris, again.

Last, but certainly not the least, come see “Into the Woods”!!!!
