In The Spotlight - Pam Thornhill (2017)

Wardrobe Mistress/Ensemble - SINGIN IN THE RAIN
Posted by Evelynn Decker Saturday, May 6, 2017 12:47:00 PM Categories: In the Spotlight Main Stage

“SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN’

IN THE SPOTLIGHT SERIES

PAMELA THORNHILL

APPEARING AS WARDROBE MISTRESS/ENSEMBLE

Nashua native, Pamela Thornhill auditioned for “Singin’ in the Rain” because she loves the show and the directing and producing team – and she wanted to Tap!!  She was happy and excited when she found out she was cast in this all-time favorite theatre classic.

Pam appears in various parts throughout the show, but she will be seen as the Wardrobe Mistress to Miss Lina Lamont.  She says she got a lot of her inspiration from Actorsingers’ own wardrobe specialists, the late Penny Tamulonis and Raelene Liljeberg, then mixed in her own flair.  As for the other character she portrays, she says she is these things in real life – a fan, a theatre patron, a townsperson, etc.

Pam says the most challenging part of bringing her role to life is the need to make it appear real and effortless.  That comes with hours and hours of rehearsal!!   Pam got her theatrical inspiration from a teacher she had when she was 11 years old and from her wonderful and talented mom, whose love of music, theatre and culture inspires her to this day.

When not involved in theatre, Pam works for a small company in marketing and inside sales (which she loves!) and many other interests that keep her busy and enjoying life.

When Pam was asked what she likes best about being involved in community theatre, her response was:  “Where do I begin? I have met some of the most wonderful, bright, caring, loving, fun and talented people, who all support one another and want to bring joy to those in the community and to one another.  I learn something new with each show I am part of.”

Pam feels theatre gives you a profound sense of fulfillment and joy in being able to share the gifts of singing, acting and dancing with fellow theater people and most importantly, those who attend theater. It gives you a chance make someone smile and be positive every day. “ It is one of my passions and I am blessed that I am able to be part of it.”

“SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN’

IN THE SPOTLIGHT SERIES

DON SMITH-WEISS

APPEARING AS R.F. SIMPSON, PRODUCER OF MONUMENTAL STUDIOS

We are pleased to present Nashua native, Don Smith-Weiss in our In the Spotlight Series!

When asked “Why did you audition for this show?” Don replied he was looking to do another show and someone suggested he’d be good in the part of the movie producer (they were absolutely right!)  Don has connected with his character by recalling people he has worked for who are in-charge and pushy, so he used that to develop his character.

Don says one of the many personal challenges he has faced for this show was deciding to shave off his goatee and reduce his moustache to a 1930’s-style pencil moustache.  He hasn’t shaved his moustache in about 40 years…What some folks won’t do for their art!!

Don says he got his earliest inspiration to perform when he appeared in his second-grade production of “Chicken Little,” and felt he could have done a better job playing some of the lead roles than the kids who got them! He also auditioned for a play when he was in high school.

His favorite thing about being involved in community theatre is the collaboration.  “You work with the other actors to make everyone’s performance better, and sets, costumes, props, lighting – all the technical parts - are coordinated to enhance the actors’ work.”

When Don isn’t doing theatre, he is a kitchen designer and also enjoys gardening, playing several instruments, writing songs, and performing in public on occasion.

When asked what Don gets from theatre that you don’t get from anything else you do…Don replied, "It's the collaborative experience.  The camaraderie that comes from shaping a production with other like-minded people is incredible!  If you love what you’re doing, the audience will see it and feel it.  Talk about sharing joy!”

Audition forms in word and pdf

Audition Requirements

Dance - Unless you only want to be considered for a non-singing/non-dancing part....we will ask you all to learn the dance audition.  Not all parts will need to exhibit great dancing skills, but we'd like to see if you can move - and how you can sell it, even if you don't do the steps correctly!!

The auditions will begin at 7:00 both nights, but the dance routine will be taught both nights, starting at 6:00PM.  You will be taught by dance captains.

Singing - Unless you only want to be considered for a non-singing/non-dancing part....we will ask you to sing.  Please sing about 16 bars (no longer than a minute) of a song that shows your ability/range - please bring sheet music.

Acting -  As there are so many bit character parts to be cast, we will ask all of you to do a short reading.  There will be parts for you to review prior to your audition.  For ensemble, there will be a few paragraphs for you to read, just so we can hear you talk.

Please print off the audition form prior to coming and attach a resume if you have one.  You will all have a headshot taken (only for the use of the auditioning board) so don't worry about supplying a photo.    Auditions will be closed - which means that you and 4 other folks will come up in a group.  You will sing and read alone - but then dance as a group.

You will be taken up in order of arrival.  Once you arrive, turn your application/resume over to the audition crew - they will assign you a number, and you will be called up in numerical order.

There are a few parts in the show that can be added to the ensemble:  The two vocal instructors and the 'BEAUTIFUL GIRL tenor - but they don't have to be.  If you can't commit to many rehearsals but would like to be considered for these parts only - just let us know..

The most important note:  PLEASE have fun!!  Take a deep breath, smile and give it your best shot.

Lonny Barnett - In The Spotlight

Rock Of Ages
Posted by Evelynn Decker Sunday, October 30, 2016 3:44:00 AM Categories: In the Spotlight Main Stage
If the seedy Sunset Strip were to ever name names of its chief perpetrators and instigators, rising to the top of the list would be Alonzo "Lonny" Barnett.
Barnett is Manager, Promotions Director, head cook, and bottle-washer at L.A.'s infamous Bourbon Room. As right-hand man of music industry vet and proprietor Dennis Dupree, the two share a steaming passion for rock, booze, and raucous nightlife.
Helping drive his success at helming The Bourbon, Barnett is no stranger to L.A.'s music scene. Formerly a drummer for local dub-ska metal group Mutha' Funkers, Barnett now works with Dupree to use the Bourbon stage to help the rising stars of L.A.'s underground music scene rise to international fame. He is also the creative genius behind some of The Bourbon Room's most outrageous promotional parties, including "Naked Jello Wrestling Thursdays", Strip Cribbage, and "Teabag Tuesdays."
Despite the hectic schedule of managing one of L.A. busiest nightclubs, Barnett keeps one eye on future opportunities. He is currently studying at ITT Technical Institute to become a Certified Audio Engineer, and aspires to be a Foley Editor in the Adult Film Industry.
Come join Lonny is his final performance of Rock of Ages Sunday Oct 30 at 2 PM!
Tickets at Actorsingers.org or at the door of Keefe Center for the Arts!
Playing the part of Lonny Barnett is James Middleton, who lives in Londonderry with his family, when not rocking out he is a Quality Engineer with an addiction to game shows and bar trivia

Joey Primo - In The Spotlight

Rock Of Ages
Posted by Evelynn Decker Wednesday, October 26, 2016 2:15:00 AM Categories: In the Spotlight Main Stage
Joey Primo, born Joseph Howard Rubenstein, has devoted his life to his first true passion – hunting. On his 10th birthday, his father drove him through the remote woods of Oregon, handed him a Winchester Model 94, and showed him how to track birch stumps and twig trails to communal nesting grounds.

For the rest of his childhood, Joey and his father, Richard Rubenstein, would travel around the Northwest discovering new breeding sites and landing 55-pounders to stuff and mount in their Lane County summer cabin. “It’s always been about the search,” said Joey in an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, “the way their tails echo through the pines when they slap the water, or the sight of a set of tracks as it disappears off the riverbed.”

At age 23, Joey moved to Los Angeles to sell his award-winning, diving-action 68-pounder at Zak’s Famous 24-hour Pawn Shop on Santa Monica Boulevard just off of 101. He hoped to attract A-list collectors to his father’s burgeoning taxidermy practice. To support his efforts, he picked up a bartending position at the legendary Dupree’s Bourbon Room, where he discovered his second true passion – rock and roll.

Music became a way for Joey to express his nostalgia for summers in the brush with his late father, who drowned tragically when a flash flood swept him into a 7-foot quaking aspen dam just months after Joey left for California. After the famous struggle at the Bourbon Room during Arsenal’s farewell show, Joey negotiated with Arsenal’s manager, a notorious taxidermy hobbyist, to replace Stacee Jaxx as lead singer.

His moving tribute to his father, Beaver Hunt, topped the BillBoard Hot 100 chart for eight weeks.

Come join Joey rock it in Rock of Ages Oct 28 - 30 ! Tickets available here !

Playing the part of Primo is Matt Kaiser who, when not on the stage can be found doing graphic design in Somerville and watching cartoons with his wife.

Sherrie is from a little town called Paola, Kansas. A true Christian girl, Sherrie has high hopes and dreams of making it big one day with her name in lights, walking down the red carpet. She started acting at the young age of 5, with her first gig on camera as an extra in a Magna Doodle commercial. Since then her passion has expanded, but limited as just a small town girl.
She took classes at Southwestern, and when she isn't performing she serves as a waitress at the local diner. Her hobbies include baking with her mother, jamming out to her Madonna records and collecting snap bracelets.
Steady with her long term boyfriend of 9 years, Sherrie was devastated to have her heart broken when he uprooted, leaving her behind for another woman. She hopes one day to find a man who will sweep her off her feet and follow in this rad journey with her, making her heart skip a beat the way his once did.
She has one last chance to give her dreams all she has...with a full heart and open mind ..."she'll be alright tonight"
Come join small town girl Ashley fresh out of Kansas chasing her dreams in Rock of Ages Oct 28 - 30 ! Tickets available here !
