Celebrate Nashua Video

Interview with Diana Hill, Actorsingers

Posted by Evelynn Decker Monday, October 8, 2018 12:50:00 PM

In The Spotlight - Christie Conticchio

Placard Girl - REEFER MADNESS

"REEFER MADNESS"

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

CHRISTIE CONTICCHIO

PLACARD GIRL

Actorsingers is pleased to present Nashua’s own Christie Conticchio in our IN THE SPOTLIGHT Series.  She will be performing as Placard Girl in REEFER MADNESS.

Christie auditioned for the show because she wanted to work with the talented directorial team.  Also, she wanted to push herself creatively by doing a show outside of her comfort-zone. Christie was very excited as this was her first non-ensemble character role.

Her character's name is Dorothy "Placard Girl" Riley and is a fellow carefree teenager who uses her placards to clearly state scenes' moral lessons. The most challenging part is acting like she believes the placards...

Christie's Actorsingers background started in 2014 with "Young Frankenstein".  She then did several shows with other neighboring communities.  In 2018, she did a lot of work with Actorsingers performing in Sister Act in May, then musically directed Damn Yankees in July.

Christie's earliest theatre memory is her senior class play, "Bye Bye Birdie" she played Mrs. Macafee and she remembers how much fun it was to work with Mr. Heinhold.

With every show her theatre family grows, and she is very blessed for all the wonderfully talented people she’s met.

When Christie is not working in the theater, she loves spending time with her husband and friends. She also enjoys anything active such as biking, hiking, etc.

Enjoy REEFER MADNESS August 31, September 1-2, 2018 ! Tickets available here !

Character Descriptions

LEADING PLAYER- The ultimate 'ring leader.' Masterfully charming and manipulative, the Leading Player is a chameleon of sorts. Guides Pippin through his own story and tries to intervene at the end. Excellent dancer. Obsessed with putting on a great show for the audience.

  • Gender: Either
  • Age: Flexible
  • Vocal range top: Ab4
  • Vocal range bottom: Db3
  • Tenor/Alto Belter

PIPPIN- Our story's young and confused protagonist. The young son of fabled Emperor Charlemagne and heir to the throne, Pippin is bright, educated and restless.  He is longing to find his purpose in life/something completely fulfilling.  Naive, innocent, and discontent.  Eventually finds love, and meaning in life.

  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 18 to 25
  • Vocal range top: Ab4
  • Vocal range bottom: G2
  • Tenor

CHARLES/CHARLEMAGNE- Pippin’s demanding and less-than-attentive father. As the King of the Holy Roman Empire, Charlemagne is more comfortable wielding a sword than breaking bread. He wears his years with great pride.  He indulges his wife Fastrada’s extravagance, but isn’t too fond of their son, Lewis.

  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 50 to 60
  • Vocal range top: E4
  • Vocal range bottom: G2
  • Baritone/Bass

BERTHE- Pippin’s saucy grandmother (and Charlemagne’s mother). She is still attractive and enjoys the simple pleasures of the body and the senses.  A brassy broad full of wisdom, grace, and sass. When Pippin seeks her advice, she tries to help Pippin and encourages him to enjoy his youth and live his life to the fullest.

  • Vocal range top: C5
  • Vocal range bottom: E3

  • Vocal range top: F5
  • Vocal range bottom: A3
  • Alto Belter

  • Vocal range top: Db5
  • Vocal range bottom: F#3
  • Mezzo

LEWIS- Pippin's not-too-bright half-brother, and, after Pippin, heir to the throne, Lewis is doted upon by his mother, Fastrada, as she attempts to promote his chances of becoming principal heir. Not at all like Pippin, Lewis loves weight lifting, wrestling, showing off, and, most of all, Lewis.

  • Age:  20 to 25

THEO- A small loveable boy, he is Catherine's son and becomes Pippin's friend.

  • Gender:  Male

Pippin Synopsis

With an infectiously unforgettable score from four-time Grammy winner, three-time Oscar winner and musical theatre giant, Stephen Schwartz, Pippin is the story of one young man's journey to be extraordinary. Winner of four 2013 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival, this updated circus-inspired version of Pippin continues to captivate and appeal to the young at heart throughout the world.

Heir to the Frankish throne, the young prince Pippin is in search of the secret to true happiness and fulfillment. He seeks it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh and the intrigues of political power (after disposing of his father, King Charlemagne the Great). In the end, though, Pippin finds that happiness lies not in extraordinary endeavors, but rather in the unextraordinary moments that happen every day.
