**CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS**
Ages, gender, and doubling of parts are merely suggestions.

Bat Boy - A half-bat half-human creature often referred to as “Edgar”. Once brought into town, he longs to be accepted and
treated like a human and not like an animal. Male, 16-26. Range: B2-A4 (falsetto to E5) (tenor)

Dr. Parker - Often referred to as Doctor Parker. Husband to Meredith. He is the town veterinarian. He has a dark side to him that he hides very well. Suffers from demons that he tries to keep at bay. Male, 30-50. Range: Ab2 - A4 (tenor)
Shelley Parker - Daughter to Dr. Parker and Meredith. She is the typical teenager but does have a more sensitive side to her that she doesn’t let many people see. Female, 16-26. Range: Ab2 - Ab4 (+ raps) (soprano)

The Townsfolk/Ensemble:
Sheriff Reynolds - He is the sheriff of Hope Falls, West Virginia. He is well respected in the town but is coming up for reelection and wants to please everyone that he can. Male, 20-60. Range: C#3 - F4 (baritone)
Rick Taylor - One out of three rowdy Taylor kids who finds Bat Boy. Also Shelley’s boyfriend. Drag role. He doubles as Lorraine and Mr. Dillon. Strong acting/singing needed. Male, 16-28. Range: E3 - B4 (+ raps) (tenor)

Bud - A rancher. Drag role. Doubles as Daisy. Male, 16-60.
Muses/Pan - The director’s vision has added additional parts to the show. The Greek Muses will tell the story of Bat Boy and will do most of the ensemble work as it is their story to tell. They will directly interact with characters onstage but are only “seen” by the audience. Pan is also included here and has a solo. The Muses require strong dancing and singing ability as their role will be very important in this production. Must be comfortable wearing a leotard and body paint. Pan range: Eb3 - A4 (tenor) or Eb3 - C4 (alto)

**FINAL NOTE**

This show is going to be a great experience with hilarious doubling, breaking the fourth wall and audience interaction. It is important that those interested in this production are willing to give it their all since it is a high energy show and will require those involved to not be afraid to challenge themselves. Please give it your all at auditions and be ready to let your creative heart and mind come to life!

Seeking Creative teams for summer adult production!

Oh what a phenomenon  you could create this summer!

Do you have a show in mind you are passionate to direct this summer ?  We would love to hear your ideas!

Actorsingers is gearing up for summer 2016 and is putting the call out for Directing teams (Director, Music Director, Choreographer) who have a show in mind they would love to bring to stage this summer!

Interested teams should email secretary@actorsingers.org by April 29, 2016 with their proposed show title and resumes of the Direction team. The team should be prepared to make a presentation sharing your vision for the show to the Board of Directors. Interviews will be scheduled at a later date.

Although the Board typically selects a pre-formed team of Director, Music Director and Choreographer for our summer adult shows we are also open to interviewing individual director submissions and if we feel strongly about a fit after your individual interview the board will work to select the remaining members of the team.

This years summer adult show is scheduled for August 26-28 at Janice B. Streeter Theatre in Nashua.

Parts with Vocal Ranges:

KING ARTHUR (Baritone [Low G2 -- High F4]. The King of England, who sets out on a quest to form the Knights of the Round Table and find the Holy Grail. Great humor. Good singer.

THE LADY OF THE LAKE (Alto with large range [Low E3 -- High B6]. A Diva. Strong, beautiful, possesses mystical powers. The leading lady of the show. Great singing voice is essential, as she must be able to sing effortlessly in many styles and vocal registers. Sings everything from opera to pop to scatting. Gets angry easily.

SIR ROBIN (Tenor/Baritone [Low D3 -- High G4]. A Knight of the Round Table. Ironically called "Sir Robin the Brave," though he couldn't be more cowardly. Joins the Knights for the singing and dancing. A good mover.

SIR LANCELOT (Tenor/Baritone [Low C3 -- High E4]. A Knight of the Round Table. He is fearless to a bloody fault but through a twist of fate discovers his "softer side."

PATSY (Tenor/Baritone [Low Bb3 -- High G5]. King Arthur's horse and servant. Under-appreciated but always longing for Arthur's approval. Good, funny, physical mover with some tap dancing.

SIR GALAHAD (Tenor [Low Bb3 -- High Bb5]. A Knight of the Round Table. Begins as Dennis, a lower class "mud gatherer" who becomes knighted and transforms into the dashing Sir Galahad.

SIR BEDEVERE (Tenor/Baritone with falsetto [Low D3 -- High G4]. A Knight of the Round Table. An inept scholar.

6 Laker Girls mythical creatures that always appear with the Lady of the Lake. Will do the more complex choreography in the show.  Broadway Jazz, Can-Can, Tap, Cheerleader Routines.

Ensemble

Show requires a vocally strong ensemble with a balance of male and female vocalists.

The following parts can be cast from the ensemble.  Some are speaking parts only and some (as noted) also have short vocal parts. This will be a fun dance show with lots of opportunity for the ensemble to sing and dance and act in a variety of scenes and play multiple characters.

Any of these parts can be played by men playing women or women playing men.  They can be cast from ensemble in any combination.

HISTORIAN- narrator, A tweedy academic.

3-4 Monks (Vocals)

NOT DEAD FRED Vocals - (Tenor [Low A2 – High A5] - a sickly little fellow who -- despite others' beliefs -- claims he is "not yet dead"

MINSTRELS 3-4 (Vocals) in Sir Robin's band
