The following link will take you to the publisher, Tams Whitmark and will give you a description of the show:

We've already posted here on the website, the character descriptions of the roles in the show.

As far as the audition process goes, we'll open the hall doors one hour prior to the start of auditions. We'll have audition forms available, or you can print one from the website. You'll sign in, get an audition number and learn the dance audition. There will be a 'jazz' style dance for all to learn and a tap audition for those interested in tapping. Please DO NOT go out and purchase tap shoes if you don't already have them. You can do the tap audition in character shoes or jazz shoes if you need to.

When filling out the audition form, please be honest and note what conflicts you'll have if cast in the production. It will be important information to know when getting the rehearsal schedule compiled.

There will be readings for the different roles, available when you sign in. Please feel free to look over all parts you're interested in auditioning for.

When the auditions start, we will take the first 5 auditionee's to the top floor for the closed audition. Each person will have an opportunity to sing their 32 bars of music. PLEASE provide SHEET music. No CD's please. After each person sings, they'll do their readings and end with doing the audition dance together.

Tips for Dance Auditions for Crazy For You

First of all, thank you for your interest in auditioning for Crazy For You! It’s a delightful show with many opportunities for dancing at various levels of ability. We will be incorporating some kind of movement in most of the numbers in the show, so there are many roles to fill!

In addition to the leads who all need to be able to dance, tap and sing, there are other character roles that we will be looking to fill:

Follies Girls (8-10)

These dancers need to dance, tap and sing well. They will perform more complex dance steps in the ensemble numbers and are featured in several other numbers on their own.

Ensemble Tappers (as many as are able)

These dancers will be included in ensemble numbers that have tap dancing involved (I Got Rhythm and Stiff Upper Lip). Their combinations will be simpler and will complement the Follies Girls’ rhythms to provide a fuller and richer tap sound.

Cowboys (8-10)

These men need to move well and be able to do at least some basic tap steps. They are featured in I Got Rhythm.

Dance Audition Tips

SMILE!  I want to see your personality shine through! The audience will be happy if you are happy, and you don’t smile with your feet, so “dance with your face”!

Go for it! I am looking for potential, not perfection. I realize that for some people, there is not enough time to learn a combination and perform it perfectly. But as long as I see that you are getting most of the steps and are able to recover quickly if you miss a step, you are showing me that you have potential.

Dance full out! If you play it safe and don’t do the steps fully and energetically, I won’t be able to see your true level of talent. I’d rather see you do it big and if you should make a mistake, think of it as an ”involuntary solo”, smile and just carry on! The audience doesn’t know the steps, so don’t let on that you made a mistake by making a face.

Have fun, good luck and I’ll see you at the auditions! I am looking forward to meeting you all!

If you're unfamiliar with Crazy for You, go onto YouTube and search under "Crazy for You Musical" and you'll find a number of videos (some have the entire show). Watch those and try to familiarize yourself with the characters in this show. The music is Gershwin, and if you don't know Gershwin, please take some time to listen to it.

The end of Act 1 features a great tap number, "I Got Rhythm". Click on the link to get a sample of what our version will look like:
