"Just So" at the Adams Opera House in Derry NH, May 24, 25, 26. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - How did the elephant get his trunk? The leopard his spots? The rhinoceros his skin? These are just some of the riddles that will be solved in the New Hampshire Premiere of "Just So"-the delightful new musical comedy by the same team that created the smash hit "Honk." Inspired by Rudyard Kipling's Nobel Prize-winning work "The Jungle Book," these whimsical animal tales are woven with wit and imagination into a song-filled journey down the banks of Africa's great, grey-green, greasy Limpopo River. You and your family will be taken along on a comical trip to meet an amazing collection of strange and wonderful creatures. You will boogie to the eclectic, upbeat score. And, you'll be inspired by its underlying message -- one determined individual can make a real difference in this world. The music is by George Stiles, the book and lyrics are by Anthony Drewe, and all aspects are triggered by the "Just So Stories" by Rudyard Kipling. This NH premiere is at the Adams Memorial Opera House in Derry, NH. OFFSTAGE 3.1 The Nashua Arts and Humanities Coalition meets on the first Monday of each month, 6 PM at the Nashua Public Library. All who are interested are welcome to participate. Web site: http://www.ArtsInNashua.org. 3.2 The Summer Youth Music School (SYMS) at the University of New Hampshire is again offering a rich music program for teens this summer. To take part in the SYMS Junior session, students must have just completed grade 7 or 8. The Junior Session runs from July 14 through 19. To take part in the SYMS Senior session, students must have just completed grade 9, 10, 11, or 12. The senior session runs from July 22 through August 3. Scholarships are available, and the deadline for scholarship applications is June 1. For complete information, visit the Web site at http://www.unh.edu/music/syms.htm. 3.3 Consider a program ad in your favorite playbill. One way to support the arts is to sponsor a program ad, big or small. This is good business as well, since the thousands who attend and perform in theatre and concerts patronize the advertisers. Some production companies also offer "applause lines," where, for a minimal cost you can send a personal greeting to your friends in the cast and crew. Some production companies run an ad for a single show. Others will run your ad for an entire theatre season, and can tell you the numbers in their audiences for the previous season. Many theatregoers and participants save the playbills, and your ad lives on. 4. About the Play by Play Preview The Play by Play Preview is back!
