The 2002 Tony Award-winning Best Musical Thoroughly Modern Millie

This Weekend (Nov. 9-11, 2007)
Friday @ 8pm
Saturday @ 2pm & 8pm
Sunday @ 2pm

This weekend, The Keefe Auditorium in Nashua will be transformed to the 1920’s when the Actorsingers present the hilarious and high-spirited romp that took Broadway by surprise, Thoroughly Modern Millie.

This 2002 Tony Award-winning BEST MUSICAL takes place in the year 1922 in The Big Apple as young Millie Dillmount arrives from Kansas, searching for a new life (and rich husband) for herself. This was an exciting time in New York — an era of jazz and speakeasys, of optimism and opportunity, and an era of the new "modern" woman. But in Millie, it's also a time of mistaken identities, a bumbling white slavery ring, courtship, and of course — love! The cast of Millie includes dashing men, a dragon-lady villainess, frisky flappers, and a slew of comedic characters that cause the show to be coined a "perfectly constructed evening of madcap merriment!"

ABOUT THE DIRECTORS

Paul Metzger (Director) is back again with Actorsingers, having directed last season's award-winning production of CATS (New Hampshire Theatre Awards for Best Choreography, Best Costumes, and Best Set Design) and our 2006 production of Jesus Christ Superstar. No stranger to performing on stage as well as behind the scenes, Paul has appeared in over 20 productions, musical and non-musical alike, and has been Fight Director (stage combat) for several of them. Most recently, Paul appeared as the Narrator in Pirate Stage's "Best Musical" production of The Rocky Horror Show.  Favorite roles over the years include Will Parker in Oklahoma!, Petruchio in Taming of the Shrew, and Sky Masterson in Guys & Dolls.  Paul is also a current member of the Actorsingers' Board of Directors.

Judy Hayward (Music Director) is also back again with Actorsingers after musically directing last seaons's CATS. Previously, she was music director for Actorsingers' production of Fiddler On the Roof in 2000, and was music director for the Teen Actorsingers' production of Narnia. In addition, Judy has worked with Peacock Players for the past six years, musically directing such shows as Les Misérables (Student Edition), Secret Garden, Children of Eden, Into the Woods, Just So Stories, Narnia, and Godspell, to name a few. Judy received the New Hampshire Theatre Award for Best Music Director for her work with MADCo's production of Cabaret, a finalist in the same year for Peacock Players' Just So Stories, and a finalist for Children of Eden. She was also a finalist for the IRNE (Independent Reviewers of New England) in Massachusetts for her work with Thrill Me, which was performed at Stoneham last year. Judy holds a BFA in Piano Performance and an MA in Arts Administration.
Donna O'Bryant Metzger (Choreographer) rounds out the return of the CATS directorial team, having walked away from the New Hampshire Theater Awards with recognition for Best Choreography for CATS.  She is very excited to have the opportunity to once again work with Actorsingers on a fun and exciting show new to the southern New Hampshire stage.  Donna has performed in and choreographed numerous community theater productions in both NH and MA, and was a NH Theatre Awards finalist for Best Choreographer for MADCo's Cabaret. Most recently Donna choreographed Urinetown with MADCO.  She is an Actorsingers Life Member and proud of all the hard work that everyone's already put into "Millie"!
